Family and Frightful Fall Fun in the San Joaquin Valley

October 10, 2022

This time of the year orange is always the new black! It’s the season when orange dotted farmers’ fields open up for families and friends to search for their perfect pumpkin. From mazes to hayrides, a pumpkin patch is a wonderful day out for everyone. And for those who like a frightening adventure, two super scary experiences are available a short drive away.

Family Fun

In Visalia, families and friends can head to Vossler Farms for a challenging corn maze, pumpkin picking, food, hayrides, carnival games, mini golf and its Field of Screams. Visit its website for ticket prices and hours.

The Hannegan Family has been servicing the Central Valley since 1987, but in 2017 they upped their offerings with Hannegan’s Harvest Festival also in Visalia. With an emphasis on family fun, they pride themselves on offering lots of fall favorites for a small budget. You’ll enjoy activities like slides, an obstacle course, a haunted train ride and, of course, pumpkins!

Hillcrest Tree Farm & Shops in Reedley has been operating since 1960. During its evolution, it has added a pumpkin patch that attracts families from all over the Central Valley. There you’ll find steam train rides, hayrides, food concessions, nature trails and a great selection of pumpkins.

Scary Fun

A Central California Halloween tradition since 1999, Hobbs Grove in Sanger unwelcomes you to experience fun and fright with a haunted hayride, a spooky forest and more. Not-so-scary attractions include a midway, entertainment, concessions, pumpkins and shopping.

In Madera, California, Raisin Hell Ranch boasts the only haunted cornfield in the Fresno/Madera area. During your trek through the spirited cornfield, you’ll encounter creepy characters and corpses. You’re definitely not in Kansas in this cornfield!

If you are searching for a new home, San Joaquin Valley Homes is still busy building homes throughout the Central Valley.
