Fall Family Fun in the San Joaquin Valley

Oct 11, 2021

Sizzling early sunsets, the aroma of autumn spices, sweater weather and pumpkins all represent some of our fall favorites. And since San Joaquin Valley is located in one of the world’s top agricultural meccas, we are fortunate to have a premier pick of pumpkin patches! Here are a few of our top choices – some may require a drive and some are nearby, but all have something enjoyable for everyone. Please check with each one prior to arrival for details on your visit.

Hannegan’s Harvest Festival. At the 3rd annual Hannegan's Harvest Festival in both Porterville and Visalia, you’ll find unique pumpkins and gourds, a train ride, a haunted train ride, lots of great photo ops, bounce houses and other inflatable fun.

Vossler Farms. There’s so much to do at this Visalia-based farm. Located at 26773 S. Mooney Blvd. families will love the food trucks, a challenging corn maze and pumpkin patch. And for the very brave, the Field of Screams invites you to be terrified select weekends in October.

Harvest Festival. A little farther afoot in Sacramento, this 49-year tradition continues, so why not make a weekend of it! You can browse and shop for unique gifts from talented artisans and crafters. It’s located at 1600 Exposition Blvd. and will run from November 19-21.

Hillcrest Farm. This farm calls Reedley home, and the pumpkin patch operates every weekend in October. Family experiences include a ride on a steam train and hay wagon. Delicious food is available and of course, your child will have the joy of picking out the perfect pumpkin!

Hobb’s Grove. And those who are more interested in being terrified than picking out pumpkins will do well (or not so well!) at the hauntingly entertaining Horribly Unhinged Hobb Estate. Also onsite are food concessions, fire pits, merchandise and more. Tickets are available online.
