It Last A Long Time. According to some manufacturers and distributors, artificial turf can last for up to 20 years. Part of this is because of the materials used. And animals and insects don’t look to it as a place to live or eat, saving your lawn from damage from critters. 

Maintenance is a Breeze. So long lawn mower! Since artificial grass is more akin to the carpet in your house, you treat it somewhat the same. You basically keep it tidy by sweeping it, using a blower on the leaves and wiping up any spills that occur. We’ve even seen people vacuuming their front yard! 

CONS: 

It Can Be Hot Hot Hot! Because it’s man made from synthetic materials, it can heat up quite a bit to a level that may feel uncomfortable. Research should be done on color, material choice and location if you’re installing it an area prone to lots of sunlight. 

It’s Not Real. If you’re truly going to miss the smell, look and feel of soft grass underfoot, then this may not be an option for you. At the end of the day, it’s plastic. You may have a more practical garden space, but still an artificial one. 

It Could Be Unhealthy. Although research has been done on both sides of this argument, you will want to satisfy yourself that using an artificial turf instead of a natural one is good and healthy option for you and your family. 

Drought resistant alternatives are rarely a bad thing when it comes to saving money and caring for the environment, but they also have to suit your budget, lifestyle and personal preferences.
