What to Buy a New Homeowner for Christmas?

December 20, 2021

If someone you know has just purchased a new home, or if you did and you’re writing your own Santa wish list, here are a few items that you’ll love to give and receive! From high to low tech options, these gadgets and gifts will come in very handy!

Electronic stud finder. No doubt new homeowners are on a constant search for the perfect place to hang photos, artwork, shelves, etc. Instead of leaving them to tap tap tap their way through a room looking for a stud, give them a device that leaves out all the guesswork!

Pressure washer. New homeowners will love how clean their front porch and driveway look. Help them preserve this appearance with the gift of a pressure washer. They’ll be able to keep on top of stains immediately to maintain the just-moved-in look.

A disaster kit. Although we don’t like to think about the worst, it’s always a good idea to have grab-and-go kit for each member of the family if they ever have to evacuate. You can buy ready-made kits or you can build one with items they’ll need in an emergency, like a flashlight, blanket, batteries, water purification tablets, etc.

Personalized door mat. Customize a front door mat with a monogram or their last name. You can order online and have it shipped straight to the homeowner. Use a material that’s suitable for the weather – i.e., a rubber one for wetter locations or one made from coconut for more arid locales.

A ladder. Are you tired of lending your brother-in-law your ladder? This is the perfect opportunity to give him a new one! He’ll use it often and think about what a great gift it is every time he uses it!

A decorating or DIY repair book. Cruise through your favorite IRL or online bookstore and select a helpful book you know your new homeowner friend can use from DIY projects to gardening or beautiful rooms for design inspiration.
