Bedroom Ideas for Your Little Sports Fanatic

With 29 professional sports teams and multiple college teams calling California home, you probably have some enthusiastic little sports fans in your home. And one of kids' favorite ways of showing their sports side could be by having a dedicated bedroom that screams Go Team when they walk through the door. There are lots of fun and creative ways your kid can be a super fan without ever leaving their bedroom, and your sporty kids may have the coolest bedrooms on the block!

Bedding. Look for affordable sports-themed bedding your sports fanatic will love. You can find bedding that represents a specific team or that simply represents your child's favorite sport. If having every single piece of bedroom linen dedicated to one team is overwhelming (for you!), you can pare it down with just a few items or purchase branded/themed fabric to make a few select pieces like window coverings, a couple of pillows or a blanket.

Paint. If you want to quickly give your child's room a sporty feel, paint the walls of the colors of their favorite team. If your child is a fan of the Los Angeles Lakers, you can paint the walls or borders of the wall in purple and gold. If your child loves basketball but does not have a favorite team, you can use the colors of a basketball as the wall paint colors. A wall that has black and orange colors will immediately remind your child of a basketball. Or consider painting a mural of a basketball court or hockey rink on an entire wall.

Fan accessories. What Lakers bedroom wouldn’t be complete without a poster of LeBron James or pennants from their wins? From all the fan giveaways to signed memorabilia to team pictures, there are lots of options for wall décor. What else are you going to do with that giant purple foam finger?

Creative accents. Instead of a dresser, why not repurpose a locker for clothes, books and toys? Instead of carpet, purchase some turf and use it as a throw rug. Look for fun-shaped items too like football lamps, soccer ball rugs and hockey puck pillows.

Be a showoff. If your little one or big one is an athlete, you can create a shelf that showcases their own accomplishments. Display their trophies, pendants, medals and certificates. Take some action pictures and frame them to place on their walls. Bonus: your child will constantly be reminded of his or her accomplishments every single day.
